We originally sold this bike new and have serviced it since day one. We just took this bike in on trade and went through and did a full service. IT’S FOR SALE.

The BMW HP2 Enduro is a bike that’s always been near and dear to my heart and last week one of the OG HP2s that’s been in our community since it was new came back to us on trade. This is a bike that’s seen a lot of great stuff over the years.

When I saw the first leaked photos of the HP2 back in 2004, MAX BMW was barely 2 years old and we were just breaking ground on what would be our second location, in NY. Ben and I knew that this unique R1200 monster would be right up our alley and that it would also appeal to a bunch of the other guys who spent their Sundays taking our big 1150 GS Adventures out on crazy day-long trail rides, putting them in spots where big bikes didn’t belong, and loving every minute of it.

The State of THINGS in 2004, AROUND THE TIME we first learned that BMW Was going to introduce the HP2 Enduro

Word was, the HP2 was going to have a limited release in the US that first year, so we did all we could to maximize our allocation and get these beasts to the right riders. (As it turned out, fewer than 400 came to the US during its limited production years of 2005 - 2008.) Lighter, taller and more svelte than a regular GS, the HP2 was a power house that was just asking to be raced. So we shoehorned our way into an established stage rally event in South Carolina in 2007 and the NASA Rally Sport RallyMoto class was born.

The HP2s were the signature ride of TEAM MAX BMW during those RallyMoto years. The “team” being a loose group of weekend-warriors with regular day jobs who used their precious vacation days to drive thousands of miles to run stage rallies in places where you can close 100 miles of roads and not inconvenience anyone. We made annual trips to South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and northern New York, with HP2s leading the way, but followed by a dedicated corps of new and vintage GSes, the G650 XChallenge and the G450X, and even some shop-built rally-spec /5s.

With a 1200 CC power plant, THE HP2 ENDURO really makes time in the straights. MAX at Sandblast 2008.

We also made a pilgrimage to Pike’s Peak to compete in their world-famous hillclimb.

In 2009. Joe warner raced his BMW Hp2 Enduro in the Pikes’s Peak International Hillclimb. Max, Ben and Doug raced HP2 Megamotos that year.

We learned through experience how to set up the HP2 to handle anything. This HP2 is an example of our preferred platform, with custom-valved front forks, an adjustable Ohlins rear shock, Scotts steering damper, pivot pegs and a full-race Akropovic titanium exhaust. Running special race rims on factory hubs is your go-to for off-road riding, with a custom set of road-race wheels for tarmac events and track days. The original wheels are included and are always perfect for scooting around town in between events. With a few clicks and a quick wheel swap the HP2 can be perfectly set-up for whatever you want to do.

SNOW AND ICE RIDING? THE HP2 CAN DO IT! Studded knobbies work great on this bike.

The best thing about the HP2 is that this bike can still do anything! Over the years, its capabilities haven't diminished – if anything, time has proven what we suspected back in 2004: that BMW had created something truly timeless.
